Grampians Wonderland Cottages comprises six spacious, self contained eco villas in a beautiful, natural bush setting in Halls Gap in the stunning Grampians National Park.
Set on 20 acres of native bushland at the edge of the National Park plus a registered Land For Wildlife site makes the perfect location, surrounded by nature yet just a short stroll into Halls Gap or a short drive to the many attractions of the Grampians region.
We’re Danny and Matt and would love to share our little haven in the Grampians with you. We have visited the Grampians for over 13 years. As avid bush walkers and responsible 4WD enthusiasts, we have traversed almost every trail of the region and can share with you our experiences, from the easiest stroll to the longer multi-day hikes and the most scenic to the most remote drives. So why not pop by for a chat, some advice or any help you need.

Sustainability and ev charging
Energy
All our energy is 100% green, carbon offset. All light bulbs are energy saving. 19kW Solar was added to three cottages in 2022. A 48 kWh battery and dual EV charging was added in 2026.
EV Charging
Guests can use our dual EV charger at the dedicated charging area at the entrance of the property. The charger is a dual 11kW level 2 charger with a type 2 plug (please bring your own cable). No app required; just tap your card or phone and charge.
Water
We have installed a grey water recycling system. This way the water from your showers and bathtub will undergo cleaning and treatment and then be used to flush your toilet. We have installed three rainwater tanks. We do not maintain a green lawn during summer.
Waste
We have installed large size shampoo/conditioner/soap dispensers in the bathrooms to avoid plastic rubbish. All our cleaning products are in refillable forever bottles made from ocean recycled plastic. All our paper products (Toilet paper/Paper towel/tissues) are from bamboo or sustainable forest farming to protect our old growth forests. Our green rubbish bags are made from plant material and actually fully compostable in our climate conditions. Your tea towels and sponges are all hygienically laundered (new replacements are available if you so choose). We offer a can/bottle recycling bin, general recycling bin, compost bin and land fill bin.
Cleaning Products
All our cleaning products (and many of our hygiene products) are from ZeroCo and Skipper. That means no single-use plastics. All products get delivered in refill pouches which are re-used later. All bottles and pouches are made from recycled plastics. No more landfill rubbish.
Heating and Cooling
We got three modern and efficient reverse cycle split system air conditioners in each cottage. Each cottage has a wood fire with localy sourced firewood. Beds have warm blankets and electric blankets in winter. There are blackout curtains on all windows.
Firewood
All our firewood is from fallen trees on our property which are not deemed to be good habitat for wildlife. We only cut down dangerous trees. The majority of our land is completely untouched. Do you wonder why there are so many dead tree trunks still standing? Because they provide excellent nesting grounds for our resident birds.
Fairness
Last but not least, all our coffee/tea/sugar, cleaning products, dish washing liquid, soap, shampoo, conditioner etc. are fair trade and not tested on animals.

An easy drive from Melbourne or the Great Ocean Road. Grampians Wonderland Cottages are located in Halls Gap, in Gariwerd / the Grampians National Park, Victoria, Australia.
By car from Melbourne: Halls Gap is a 3 hour drive. Its an easy drive along the Western Highway, turn off at Ararat, through Pomonal to Halls Gap. At night we recommend driving via Stawell.
By car from the Great Ocean Road: Halls Gap is a 2 hour drive. We recommend driving via Warrnambool, Tower Hill, Penshurst and Dunkeld.
By public transport: Halls Gap is a 3.5 hour journey. Take the VLine train from Melbourne to Ararat. Here a couch continues to Halls Gap, either via Pomonal or Stawell. It's a 10 minute walk from the bus stop at the visitor centre. Within a 15 minute walking distance of your cottage you will have access to most restaurants and cafes in town as well as numerous hiking trails, from the 20 minute stroll to the full day adventure.
